- FYN https://fynrestaurant.com/ - great for lunch or early dinner (has amazing views so its at its best during daylight) stunning restaurant and fantastic Asian/African fusion food
- Willoughby’s & Co https://www.willoughbyandco.co.za/ - a local’s favourite. Odd location in the shopping mall at the V&A Waterfront but it’s a Cape Town institution and great people watching. The Asian/Japanese food is better that the rest of the menu, but we love a selection of sushi, sashimi, rock shrimp tempura. It’s a casual no reservations place and you usually have to queue to get in but it’s worth it and they give you a wee glass of wine in the queue

- Athletic Club & Social http://theathletic.co.za/ I love this place for cocktails, snacks and afternoon/evening vibes, its beautiful and has lots of different areas to enjoy. Probably wouldn’t eat dinner here though
- Open Wine https://www.facebook.com/openwineza/ Fab wine bar in Cape Town, its where wine people hang out and is owned by Alex’s Italian 'brother' Raphael – great selection and lots by the glass, plus jazz night
- Constantia Vineyards (approx. 30mins by Uber from central CT)
- Steenberg https://www.steenbergfarm.com/ Very smart vineyard and beautiful tasting room. Book The Bistro Sixteen82 for lunch and then have a wine tasting (avoid weekends, its so busy) Food is excellent
- Constantia Glen https://www.constantiaglen.com/ Beautiful location, stunning venue, lovely wine tasting – wines a bit pricey but enjoyable, good for a cheese board
- Beau Constantia https://www.beauconstantia.com/ Amazing tasting room in a glass box overlooking the valley (it looks onto Constantia Glen opposite) Lovely wines. Chefs Warehouse is also located here and is definitely worth booking for lunch – sharing dishes all delicious! Really cool toilets!
- Klein Constantia https://www.kleinconstantia.com/the-bistro/ another favourite lunch spot…very pretty outside deck for a lovely al fresco lunch. Nice tasting room, lovely wines
- Buitenverwachting http://www.buitenverwachting.com/restaurant.html We haven’t eaten at the restaurant but its supposed to be fabulous, wine is great
- Franschhoek (approx. 1 hour by Uber from central CT)
- La Bri https://www.labri.co.za/ The wine tasting here is charming, they have a lovely outdoor deck at the back of the tasting room which is a lovely sun spot, wines are great. NO restaurant here so its just for a tasting
- Haute Cabrierehttps://cabriere.co.za/ I’d even suggest going here for some brunch fizz! It’s the best location for the view in Franschhoek and the restaurant and tasting room is lovely, they have another restaurant in their cellars which is also gorgeous. They produce the Pierre Jourdan Cap Classique’s here
- Le Lude https://lelude.co.za/ Produces some elegant Cap Classique – beautiful for a tasting experience but highly recommend the restaurant The Orangerie for lunch or dinner. Food is excellent and it’s a stunning venue
- La Petite Colombe https://lapetitecolombe.restaurant/food If you’re looking for somewhere to splash out then this is it. We’ve been twice and its absolutely my favourite restaurant experience. Lunch or dinner works
- Wine Tram – we have never done the wine tram although it is the very touristy thing to do in Franschhoek – you may want to give it a go as it goes around many of the vineyards. Alternatively choose a couple and get an uber to take you around. Its just not personally our thing to do.
- On a side note if you are needing a break from wine, then we can highly recommend the Tuk Tuk Microbrewery on the main street which has a great selection of beer (service can be a bit slow) and the food is good
- Durbanville (approx. 30mins by Uber from central CT)
- De Grendel - https://degrendel.co.za/ Great restaurant, stunning tasting room, fab wines, best view of Table Mountain. They tend to shut the tasting room promptly at 4pm
- Nitida https://nitida.co.za/about-us-handmade-the-nitida-way/ we love it here, its very relaxed but the wine is just superb. Fab sauvignon blancs which is what Durbanville is know for. There are two restaurants : Cassia – which has a great outside deck for summer lunches and Tables which is the more family friendly casual restaurant. Id recommend Cassia (its also pretty casual but just less kiddie)
- Diemersdal https://diemersdal.co.za/ Another superb farm with a great selection of Sauvignons and much more (some of our favs come from here – Eight Rows, Wild Horseshoe) The restaurant is super charming and especially lovely sitting outside in the garden – delicious food, fav setting and great wine!
- Klein Roosboom https://kleinroosboom.co.za/ a hidden boutique winery with a lovely selection of wines and a newly relaunched restaurant – bit more casual but wholesome food
- Stellenbosch (approx. 45mins by Uber from central CT)
- Delaire Graff Estate https://www.delaire.co.za/ A really beautiful location – wines are outstanding, we love The Delaire Graff Restaurant, its a fab dining room, amazing service and really great food, the tasting room is great
- Tokara https://www.tokara.com/ We haven’t dined here but have done a tasting and its defo worth it – simply stunning location, close to Delaire Graff
- Thelema https://www.thelema.co.za/ And Thelema is just next to Tokara so its possible to do these three vineyards in one visit . Thelema does not have a restaurant, but the tasting room is very nice.
- Hartenberg https://hartenbergestate.com/ourfarm/ A really charming old world winery, with established and revered wines. Roderick who does the tastings is an absolute gem. Lovely for lunch in the garden or they do picnics too
- Simonsig Wineshttps://www.simonsig.co.za/about-us/ Another old world winery with lots of charm. Recommend doing a cellar tour you’re here as well as a tasting and the restaurant is decent but extremely popular, so like everywhere you’ll need to book in advance
- Stark Conde https://stark-conde.co.za/ The first time we went here it really blew us away, its just so beautiful! The tasting room is a pagoda in the middle of a lake and the Postcard Café is fantastic wholesome food. Would never tire of going here!
