Job Description:

SugarBird Wines Union Grove is a neighbourhood wine shop and bar with a curated wine list, offering personal service, a weekly changing wine list, small menu of food accompaniments and weekly wine events. Sister venue to SugarBird In The Gardens, this is a key role we are recruiting for, and at an exciting time for the company.

We are recruiting for a full time Assistant Manager to take responsibility for the daily operations, support the small team and host to our amazing regular customers. Daily tasks include but not limited to opening and closing responsibilities, inventory management, exceptional customer service, adherence to health and safety and licensing laws, and ensuring the same of all staff, standard company procedure delivery, property care.
The Assistant Manager will also collaborate with the General Manager, Owners, Marketing and Events teams to enhance the shop's visibility and customer engagement.

 

Day to Day Operations:

·        Assisting in the daily operational business of effective team management, property management, customer relations and licence adherence.

·        Drive standards: Our candidate will be a strong communicator and push our teams to excel, delivering on procedural standards and identifying training opportunities and areas for improvement across the business.

·        Order taking: Efficiently and accurately process customer orders, ensuring they are guided in their choices

·        Sales Opportunities:  The bar team effectively sell products to each customer, identifying sales opportunities at every stage

·        Prepare Cold Food: Participate in the preparation of food platters that complement our wine offerings, ensuring quality, presentation, consistency, timely and hygienic service

·        Handle Card Transactions: Handle transactions with precision, maintaining a secure and organized approach.

·        Opening and closing Procedure: Responsibility of the property and its contents whilst being a keyholder and following the standards of opening/closing procedures consistently

·        Health & Hygiene: Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, adhering to health and hygiene protocols to create a safe and inviting environment for our patrons.

·        Licensing Laws: Uphold a strict adherence to licensing laws and regulations at all times, ensuring the responsible and legal service of alcohol, and adhering to the Licensing Objectives at all times

Qualifications:

We're looking for individuals who possess the following qualities:

  • WSET 2 or prior wine industry experience essential
  • 2 years experience in a Manager position within a hotel, restaurant, bar
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • 100% Customer focus mentality
  • Retail Management experience desired but not essential
  • Ability to work and train to procedures
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
  • Ability to solve problems effectively
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Job Type: Full Time Permanent

Salary: £14.20 per hour
